While some may say this is too much, try to remember that each and every piece of content placed on your website or blog should provide value and make a good and captivating first impression because the majority of your visitors arriving for the first time WILL NOT hang around very long (on average you have only 15 seconds to capture your visitors attention – Time.com Data March 2014)

If somehow your visitor finds something that he or she doesn’t think is relevant to their search or interests, you have more than likely lost them forever, so it makes sense to have some form of system to capture name and email. Most email service providers (I use Aweber)  have a facility which their members can use to design very effective opt-in pages to do exactly that.

2) As mentioned in the first tip, make your homepage sticky, that is you want your visitor to stay! 

You need to have well written, informative and easy to read content. Dependent on what your site is all about, you need to capture your visitor’s attention IMMEDIATELY! and have them do what YOU want them to do and not what they THINK they want to do.

Make your website useful and easy to use. Do not expect everyone to be tech savvy, make your graphics good, but don’t over complicate it .

3) Provide good service and products.

A returning customer is more likely to bring in more business. A satisfied customer will recommend a business always. Word of mouth and recommendations alone can rake in more business than an expensive ad. As your clientele roster grows so shall your list. With more members on the list, the more people will get to know about what you have to offer.

4) Keep a clean and private list.

Never lose the trust your customers have entrusted you. If you provide e-mails to others and they get spammed, many will probably unsubscribe to you. Remember, a good reputation will drive in more traffic and subscribers as well as strengthen the loyalty of your customers, so get list building TODAY!
