If you’re like most new marketers, I bet you dread logging into your autoresponder and seeing that you’ve lost list members due to them unsubscribing.

Well, I’m about to turn that on it’s head and give you 3 good reasons why getting unsubscribes can actually be good for your business……

The first reason is that you’re actually using your list.

The only way that I’ve ever seen to not get an unsubscribe is to never send an email, and if you’re not going to use your list to promote why go to the time and effort to build it.

So you can congratulate yourself when you get an unsubscribe because it means that you are actually using your list, so well done!

The second thing is that someone is opening your email.

To unsubscribe they had to at least open the email and click the unsubscribe link.  The good news is, that your headline worked and got them to open your email.  but the bad news is, if you’re using dishonest headlines, (“You Have Won”, “Your Account Status”, and other headlines along these lines) then this is not a good thing and you are simply reaping what you’ve sown.

BUT, if you’re using a solid headline that matches your subscribers needs, and it gets opened, then this is obviously a good thing as it means your headline is doing its job.

The third good reason to be glad to get unsubscribes has to do with personality.

Now here’s a shocker! Not everyone is going to like you or your writing style. (there I’ve said it) Those that don’t, will simply unsubscribe.  The good thing is though, that if they don’t care for your style you’ll probably never build a relationship with them anyway.

Therefore, if you can’t build a relationship with them they will most likely NEVER buy from you.  So each unsubscribe will make your list more targeted to people who actually like your style and are more likely to respond favourably to your promotions.

So that’s it for this short blog post today, I hope you found it useful. You now have three good reasons to no longer dread unsubscribes from your list.  You can actually REJOICE in the fact that you’re actually making your list and business stronger and more profitable.
