How to be a Successful Entrepreneur
There are many successful companies and corporations around today that started originally as little more than a vision or a dream. Who for example has not heard of Google, Facebook, Twitter or Amazon. These are all now mega companies worth billions of dollars, yet originally were only an idea in some aspiring entrepreneurs mind.
However, as we know everything starts with an idea, the BIG difference with almost ALL of the successful entrepreneurs is the “action” they have taken to bring their dreams and visions to reality. Their beginnings were founded with motivation, perseverance, drive and a burning desire to achieve and be the best that they can be.
But what are the differences between success and failure. Well, take heed and read the rest of this article to find out how YOU TOO can become successful by learning the traits and copying the strategies that show you what the successful entrepreneurs do to achieve their goals.
How to be a Successful Entrepreneur.
Success Trait No 1. You Must Have a Big Reason Why.
In the early days, there will be many times when you will want to quit. These are the times when your “reason why” will keep you going. So before you begin your business venture sit down and decide exactly what you want, why you want it, and what “success” means to
Some of the reasons why entrepreneurs persist against the odds are:
-To travel more
-To escape the rat race
-To put kids through private education
-To allow spouse/partner to give up employment
There are many more, but what you will find is, if your reason is big enough, and you focus on this reason every day, YOU WILL KEEP GOING despite the obstacles that WILL show up along the way. Put simply, the more persistent and motivated you are, the greater your chance of becoming a successful entrepreneur will be.
Success Trait No 2. Enter Into the Creative Plane and be Flexible.
Remove from your mind all traces of lack. Constantly remind yourself that there is and always will be, enough for everybody. Focus on abundance, work from the inside out and you will be thinking creatively. Any thoughts you have on “not having enough” will keep you firmly in the competitive world where most unsuccessful people live. If you truly wish to be a successful entrepreneur you simply must think only of what you want and take the necessary action to achieve it.
Success Trait No 3. Who do You Hang Around With?
Did you know that the money you earn is the average of the 6 closest people you hang around with. So it goes without saying that if you want to become a millionaire you must begin to associate with millionaires. This is a very common trait for successful entrepreneurs.
Almost without exception (except for lottery winners etc) successful people hang out with successful people. So ask your self this “who do I hang out with?”
Success Trait No 4. Successful entrepreneurs are ALWAYS Learning
You must condition yourself to be constantly on the lookout for the next level of learning. Never think that there is nothing left for you to educate yourself on. You can even learn from your failures if you consider failure to ONLY be a learning mechanism on the way to success.
So, talk to mentors and coaches, discuss your business ideas with other entrepreneurs in your industry and continue to broaden your knowledge base. NEVER be afraid of asking for help, you CANNOT know it all.

Success Trait No 5. Patience is a Virtue.
Never forget that building a business takes time, even on the internet. Do not listen to the overnight success stories, these are less common than you are lead to believe. All businesses take time to grow, as long as you have systematic processes in place and are taking the appropriate action on a daily basis, you will succeed. But you simply MUST be patient.
Impatience leads to emotional decisions, and invariably decisions based on your emotions turn out to be the wrong ones. Push as hard as you can, go as fast as you can, but DO NOT hurry.
Success Trait No 6. Successful Entrepreneurs go the Extra Mile.
You must get into the mindset of completion. Do everything you can every day to make your business a success. You must be willing to go the extra mile and do the things that failures don’t like to do to get your projects finished and your goals accomplished.
So write down your daily action list the night before, just as you are going to bed, and follow through the next day ticking off each action as it is completed.
Quick Tip: Only put 6 daily actions on your list. Move any you don’t complete onto the next day. Always make the action you like doing the least, No 1 on your list.
Success Trait No 7. Being a successful entrepreneur is not for everybody
But the rewards are. However as previously mentioned, you must be driven, enthusiastic and almost manic in your burning desire to succeed. Sometimes this can play havoc with your partnerships and family life, quite often in the early days of your business, when you are putting in more time and quite possibly spending money with very little to show for it.
But bear this in mind, this was once said to me by the wife of one of my early business mentors, she said “The time and money spent in the early days is returned to you in absolute abundance when you achieve the success you desire”.
So there you have it, 7 of the most common characteristics of successful entrepreneurs. Whilst having these success traits can improve your chances of success a hundredfold, it by no means guarantees it.
Commitment to your business, and your dreams, means hard work, determination and discipline also, but if you commit and stick to it, there is every chance you can achieve the success you deserve.
