10 Simple Ways for You to Implement Today to Increase Traffic to Your Blog
Everyone wants more traffic to their website. Whether you’re new to blogging or an already established authority in your niche.Traffic may seem difficult to get sometimes but if you have the right strategies in place it can be achieved with relative ease.
So with that in mind. today’s blog post will give you 10 Simple Ways for You to Implement Today to Increase Traffic to Your Blog, but the real beauty of this blog post today is that you can start to implement these traffic generating methods immediately to start seeing really fast results.
So read on……
1. Search engine optimization:
Ranking well in Google for targeted search terms is one way to bring niche targeted visitors to your website or blog, but in order for you to do this successfully you will need to know a little bit about search engine optimization or SEO as it is known in the industry.
SEO work can typically include reviewing, revising and amending your page titles and meta descriptions. Some regular and organic ink building (Keep well away from any automated link building software as this can seriously damage your websites ranking and can mean heavy ranking penalties from Google) and fixing broken links when necessary.
And once you’re ranking well in Google you’ll probably see a nice regular flow of targeted traffic. An easy way to start with your websites SEO is to begin optimizing your most popular pages first and then look to increase your rankings for these. You should be able to identify these pages in Google Analytics.
You can start by optimizing the content, and by building external and internal links to
these pages.
But remember for SEO to be effective and bring you targeted visitors, you need to ensure that the search terms you are looking to rank for are suitable. You can use The Google Keyword Planner to research keywords most applicable to your niche, and also to find new keywords as your optimization campaign progresses.
2. Re-promote Your Top Posts:
Assuming you are already promoting your content via social media, it is also a good strategy to be re-promoting it to get even more traffic, and whilst I agree that there’s probably nothing worse than a Twitter account that is simply tweeting nothing but scheduled tweets, you can’t really argue that there are a number of automated Twitter accounts that have an awful lot of followers, so it could be a tactic for you to use, albeit sparingly.
You see there are lessons to be learnt from these sort of accounts – they’re smart. They identify quite quickly which content is getting the most interaction, gaining the most followers and schedule the tweets accordingly.
This may be on a different day of the week or at a different time of the day to engage with any followers who may have missed the original tweet, on the basis that if it was popular first time around, there’s probably a reasonable chance that more people will want to read it.
With Twitter’s sponsored posts you can create the audience you want to target. You can segment by age, location or even email address. So if you have the email addresses of 1,000 influencers you want to promote your content to, using sponsored Tweets can be very effective.

3. Write for an Industry Publication:
Writing regular columns or complete articles for industry publications can also be a good way to receive a large almost instant traffic boost to your website, and this type of exposure allows you to build your brand aswell as giving you the opportunity to promote your content to an already established and engaged target audience.
You’re probably already aware of the big sites within your industry that you could write for, but if you need help finding more, then an easy way to do this is simply to use good’ol Google. Just type in whatever niche publication you are searching for.
E.G. I like to write for the “Make Money Online Niche” so when I got started and was
looking for popular blogs and online magazines to write for, within this niche, I simply
Googled “Make Money Online Blogs” & “Make Money Online Publications”.
You see, there really is nothing too complicated with this, so don’t overthink this strategy or you will never get going with it!
There are a number of other online publication resources you could use aswell, such as;
Seth Godin’s Alltop.com and Majestic. Search for your keyword(s) on Alltop and it will bring back relevant publications relating to this. Similarly, with Majestic you can do a search for your keywords to bring back the most popular sites by backlink.
One other handy way to use Majestic, is to search what backlinks your competitors have as you may also decide to target the same sites.
4. Flagship Content:
One way to keep new visitors coming back again and again, is to have valuable, unique
and great content. It’s often called cornerstone or flagship content.
Cornerstone content is excellent for building up loyalty and authority – great if you are able to produce these works of art. The more links these content pieces collect the higher they climb up Google’s results and therefore increase your whole website’s backlink profile in the process.
Giving your audience value obviously encourages your readers to visit again and again
whilst others will naturally link to it. Again, consider your keywords when producing
your great content and make sure you include the relevant keyword(s) in the title, anchor
text and body text.
5. Joint Venture With Other Popular Bloggers:
Teaming up with other bloggers in a similar industry (who aren’t necessarily your
competitors) to share content and recommend posts to one another’s audiences can
also be a very effective way to increase your contents exposure and your traffic.
However, traffic is not the only benefactor, as collaborating with others can also
help you produce leads, inherit links and boost your overall social engagement.
You see a great example of this being the case, in the digital marketing industry.
Because allowing authors to guest post on your site leads to them sharing your posts
with their audience and vice versa. So it can be a win/win situation.
6. Answer Questions Your Readers are Asking:
It’s always useful to know what your readers and/or potential customers are asking,
as this allows you to know what content is needed to fulfill your customer’s needs.
There are a number of places you can search to find relevant questions worth answering
for your niche, including by using Quora. Quora is a social network where users ask the
public questions. You can search this tool to find what question people are asking and
use this information to build content and provide solutions to their problems.
7. Scheduling:
Timing is everything and the best way to find out which time of the day and which day of the week is best to publish your content is to test it. You’ll need to do lots of testing too and ultimately you may not even find the perfect time.
However, through testing you’ll certainly be able to eliminate certain times and days
for publishing your content, which are not providing the results you are requiring.
Maybe, for example, Monday afternoons and Friday mornings give poor returns but
Wednesday mornings and Saturday afternoons work best for you, but guess what? You’ll
only know if you test in the first place. So test!
But remember,if it’s truly breaking news you’ll naturally want to get it out as soon as you possibly can, so bear this in mind with your scheduling aswell.

8. Build an Email List:
I’m sure that by now you’ve probably heard the saying “The Money is in the Relationship You Build With Your Email List”. And it’s true! You really can’t go wrong by creating a targeted and responsive email list. So make sure you always include a sign-up form on every page of your website. Preferably above the fold and close to the top.
When posting on your blog, always include a call to action at the end of your post. This call to action should be either a button of some sort which takes your reader to a squeeze page, or can be be a sign up form for them to join your list there and then.
By building your email list, you can keep your subscribers regularly informed about your content, especially as not everyone will read every single one of your blog posts immediately. In fact, some of your audience may have only ever read one. But if they liked one specific blog post and have opted into your newsletter then you are able to send them more content to read on a regular basis.
It’s also a low cost strategy – you pay for your email marketing service, I use Aweber – and time to produce your newsletter – but otherwise have no expenses.
Email traffic can also be used to send visitors to your social media profiles, but your social media profiles can be used to collect subscribers for your email campaigns too.
Keep your signup simple, to avoid giving people too many boxes to fill in. You can see examples of my sign-up forms to the right of this post, and a call to action example at the end.
9. Invite Industry Expert Bloggers:
Most Bloggers have their own audience and their own opinions, and this of course is
what can generate them traffic in the first place. So, if you’re in a position to invite influential or expert bloggers within your niche to contribute to your blog, then you have the potential of attracting a whole new audience.
It works both ways – they write for your blog trying to win over some of your audience, whilst they share their piece with their own audience to help you win over new followers.
If they have an email list of their own that they are able to send the content on your blog to aswell, then even better. The absolute minimum you would expect in reciprocation with this strategy is a sharing of content on their social media profiles.
10. Strong Content:
Focus on great content that will naturally attract links and social shares. If like me, you’re not very gifted when it comes to creating graphics, apps and other fun stuff, then there are places you can outsource your work to.
Try sites like Fiverr, PeoplePerHour, Freelancer.com and Upwork.com to find experts who
can do the work for you at a decent, and usually extremely good value, price.
Great content can take many forms of course, a news story that you’ve created through a PR stunt for example, sharing of data is also very popular, whilst quotes and opinion pieces are also worth considering aswell.
Do your research before building your content. Start by working out who your target sites are and what they link to. “Would they want to link to this?”
This isn’t necessarily your buyer persona but rather the sites you would like to get links from. Focus on adding real value and genuinely inciting interest. Look for topics that already do well – tools such as Majestic and BuzzSumo are excellent for this research and will show you the kinds of articles getting the most social shares.
You can then use this as a basis for creating your own high quality content, built around topics you know your audience is already sharing and engaging with. Consider the format for your content as well – try infographics, guides, images, videos and case studies.
To increase the chances of your content being picked up and shared, there’s no harm in sending a polite email or Tweet to specific webmasters/business owners and social accounts to let them know that you think their audience may enjoy your content.
Finally, another great free tool is Answer the Public. This is a question-based search engine – so you simply enter your keyword(s) and it will list what questions people are searching for around your term, and importantly there are lots of questions here that you can easily turn into content.
