You see if your ad is not showing up within the top 3 positions and you’re not hitting your daily budget targets, increasing your bids to achieve a more prominent placing is an option.

However, this is not always an option immediately available, so if increasing bids to make it into the top 3 is not immediately an option for your budget, then try at least to make sure you’re ads are showing up as high as possible on the first page of the search results.


Depending on your business and target market, you might want to consider broadening your reach. For example, let’s say you promote a weight loss product specifically aimed at men over 55, and while that would seem to make sense if men over 55 are indeed your main target market, you might consider opening up that target to include women over 55, (assuming your weight loss product is a good fit for women aswell).

Even if you consider your keyword list to be complete, the chances are that your competition can and will prove you wrong.  Popular keywords and keyword phrases are always changing as interests, news and pop culture bring some to the surface and take others out of the spotlight.

So ensure you keep your keyword lists fresh and updated, and don’t forget about those less common words, which will help to keep your return on investment exactly where you want it – less common means less competition.

If you take a fairly conservative approach with your match types by focusing on phrase and exact match, then adding broad match to your campaigns can help cast a wider net (as previously mentioned above) to capture more web traffic.

So you should try experimenting with different versions of ads that (both Google and Bing allow you to rotate ads) highlight different benefits to your target market,  offering slightly different solutions to the problems your product will help to solve.

Mobile friendliness.

This one has less to do with your PPC campaigns and more to do with your website.  As mobile devices become more ubiquitous, more and more people are using them to find the things they’re looking for while on the go.  If you’re not optimized for mobile, you could be losing customers to your competitors who are.
